As I have indicated before, the adoption of the local historic district ordinance is necessary to secure the future for Newburyport. It is the single, most important issue to face our City since the days of the urban renewal demolitions.
So as you look over the candidates on PortMedia’s Channel Ten via the CEB Candidate Interviews, as you have attended the debates and will hopefully attend the BIG ONE coming up, and as you read the local papers on the qualifications of each candidate for at-large; remember that for the ordinance to pass, we need a super majority vote in City Council.
I know that on many issues, I may disagree with the positions held by some of the candidates, but knowing how important this future vote will be, I will declare, “My enemy of my enemy, is my friend.”
Therefore, I throw my endorsement toward the following: Ari Herzog, Barry Connell, Ed Cameron, Katy Ives, Michael Early and Steve Hutcheson.
It is my hope that the status quo be maintained and that the only empty seat remaining go for Ed Cameron who, though he was a ward councilor, often took very competent measures that ended up benefiting the entire city. He aught to join an already competent city council team.

Sorry if this is a repeat, but my comment hasn’t appeared: Don’t you have to choose only five at-large seats? So, which one gets dropped here? You say “status quo” but include Micheal Early. Just wondering…
There’s a list of LHD supporters and then afterward, I lay out my dream team.
