It is so very odd that it takes a little event to finally wake up the citizenry. White Hen Pantry moving out of its location has generated much anger. Legally, there is nothing that will stop the expansion of the CVS. Negatively, this is going to cause ill-feelings and a lot of trouble down the corridors of time when NED finally begins to move on the Westeran and Eastern Overlay Districts. Postively, I am hoping this anger will be converted into a populace that monitors very carefully what happens in the downtown and which will keep engaged in the planning and permitting process.
Regrettably, there are too many who are angry because they will be "inconvenienced" by the loss of the White Hen Pantry and not by a general concern for the community as a whole.
I commend Ann Lagasse and her team for sheer courage and appreciate their openness in the face of such hostility.
I know I wouldn’t want to face them!
