I don’t have much in profound statements today but it might be good to start thinking of unique attractions, products and services that make Newburyport a real destination.
I visited Rockport and aside from staring morosely at Motif #1 (Michael Harborside copied it on their building.) there is not much to do except sit and stare at the ocean, eat in the few (and I stress few) nice restaurants and check out the little shops. (not many)
Newburyport is so full of attractions and neat, unique experiences that only the lack of imagination would hold you back from making it a ‘destination’.
Let’s start thinking of what unique experiences we have – I can start by listing a couple:
Lobster Bisque ‘on demand’ at Green Bean Deli.
The Grog – it is not just any old restaurant – it has history, is cozy and their fish and chips are to die for!
Farmer’s Market – The Tannery is the prettiest frame on a picture perfect gathering of farm-fresh products.
Gram’s Ice Cream – Where else can you get Plum Island Turtle?
Let’s make some more serious lists – pretend you are setting up a tourist itinerary for a visitor – what could you tell them to experience or see?
Let me hear from you!
