I was very pleased to see that the twin damages on Water Street due to vehicular attacks have been expeditiously repaired. I was very concerned that as money was tight that the building next to Starboard Galley would be done cheaply and not appropriate to the historic structure.
I need not worry.
It was done just right adding more value to not just that building but to the entire streetscape. Perhaps I am overly wishing, but it would be great when the weather warms and they go to paint the exterior that they add a brick pathway. That will then be no longer the missing link on a run of brick sidewalks stretching from Market Square to the Coast Guard entrance.
It is indeed all about luring customers away from the center of downtown and drawing them further eastward to the enrichment of businesses in that direction and to the delight of our visitors as they can see more and be better enriched by the diversity our city possesses.
Regardless of my common sense wish, it is great to see the Newburyport Art Association whole again as well as the previously mentioned structure.
