Hurrah for the bike lanes!
Now, a typical stuck-in-the-mud bureaucrat would say, “We used a special epoxy for the lines and can’t afford to do it again.”
A political coward, hearing the wrangling of self-centered abutters about how they lost their private parking spaces on High Street, would walk away.
But Mayor Holaday and Tony Furnari swept such foolishness away.
Because of it, we have our well-defined bike path back, in a City where bicycling makes sense. How? By simply using white paving paint.
We have our High Street patched and now narrowed making the boulevard a pleasant, safe, experience. In fact, I was in a hurry last night so I went down Low Street because I knew High would be too slow for where I needed to go! (Yes, I am guilty.)
Lack of money didn’t stop them.
Bureaucratic foolishness didn’t slow them down.
Political Wimpiness was steeled against.
Common Sense won!
PS. With this can-do leadership attitude, it explains why no one dared to run against the Mayor!
